Pushing hard at Portimao – FIM ETC RD4

After a good result in Barcelona despite missing free practice we go into the next round at Portimao with confidence and determination.

Thursday was dry and both sessions going very well improving every session and finishing the day 1 seconds off my PB lap time with a 1:54:200.

Fridays sessions were also positive. FP1 I finished P14, my highest session finish yet at 2.900 seconds off P1 setting a 1:53:500. However the afternoon session was extremely hot and the track started to get quite greasy and much slower. Nonetheless I finished P14 again 2.300 off P1 with a 1:54:000.

Saturday morning consists of one more free practice session deciding who goes straight to Q2 however I wasn’t able to squeeze through and set a time of 1:54:000 again putting me in Q1.
Q1 was a bit of a disaster after a miss times ride through in pitlane by me and my group. There was a small group of us who all pulled in pitlane so we could all go out and do one flying lap however the flag came out as we were going down the straight resulting in me being P8.

Last chance race: I got a good start and battled with the front group for the entire race even making it up to P3 at one point. However a mistake on the last lap lost me a couple of positions and finishing P6 across the line.

Overall not the final result I was hoping for from the weekend but it still had its positives and more racing experience in groups. Over the summer I will be competing in the British talent cup so I look forward to taking what I have learned forward to those races.
