BOGEY TRACK BEAT IN BAKING HOT BARCELONA – RD 5 EUROPEAN TALENT CUP

The last round before a well deserved summer would see temperatures raise as high as 38 Degree’s at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya. Previous visits to the circuit had been far from successful for Kyle so possibly the hardest challenge to get a positive result and keep the forwards momentum and progress.

First free practice on Thursday Kyle proceeded to beat his PB by 2 secs and seemed that this time things would be different, then came free practice two and a crash at turn 6 in the super hot conditions. No real damage done to bike or rider but a little knock to the confidence as no clear explanation from the rider or data as to why.

Full focus and determination to conquer the Barcelona circuit

Friday’s free practice would find Kyle unable to replicate his 1 min 55.1 sec from Thursday morning struggling for feel in the super hot conditions finishing with a best time of 1 min 55.6 sec and a little further down the time sheets than previous events.

Saturday qualifying and Kyle looking more determined than ever as he set about his work with a positive mindset resulting in a new PB of 1 min 54.1 secs, 3 seconds faster than his previous visit in 2022 and as a result rewarded with 13th on the grid for his race Sunday morning.

Attacking early on in the race

Sunday morning, a little cooler (in comparison) than previous days and everything set to fight for a result. Another rocket start and Kyle was as high as 7th and once again with the main pack as in Portugal, unfortunately on lap 2 a fellow competitors bike had a serious mechanical directly in front momentarily slowing up Kyle and detaching him from the group. Kyle pushed hard to close the gap but a small step to far. However, undeterred battled hard with those around him achieving a even faster lap a PB of 1 min 53.9 secs and 11th overall, 2 positions higher than he started. Great result and reward for the team who as always work so hard for the whole weekend.

Massive thanks to all sponsors and supporters following and helping Kyle to progress.

Bye for now, time for summer break and more training.
