Navarra R7 Cup Wildcard

Last weekend I was offered the opportunity to ride an R7 in the Spanish Yamaha R7 cup. I had never raced a bigger bike than the Honda nsf before so this was a great opportunity to try a possible category for next year.

The first sessions on Thursday were good. I spent the first 2 sessions getting used to the bike having never ridden one before and also making sure the position of everything was good on the bike. I ended the day on a 2:00:900 which I was very happy with.

First feelings with the bike

Friday consisted of another 2 30 minute sessions. Friday morning i dropped my lap time by a second again ending up with a 1:59:800 P12. For Friday afternoon we changed some suspension settings as I was struggle to turn the bike properly. This change made a big difference with my feeling with the bike resulting in me getting a 1:59:400 P12 in the afternoon session.

Saturday morning consisted of a 25 minute qualifying session. My plan was to go with a group to try to learn from them however I was getting slowed up by them. I decided to do a ride through the pits to get some clear track. I went out alone and managed to get a 1:58:800 which I was very happy with leaving me P12 once again on the Grid

Saturday afternoon was Race 1. I had a decent start however into turn 1 I played it quite cautious with bikes everywhere and as to make more than 1 lap unlike my last race. I settled into a group however I felt I was faster so I overtook them and started to catch the group Infront. after 7 laps of catching I did manage to get onto the back of them but I wasn’t able to do anything resulting in Finishing P12.

Race 2 I was still starting from P12. Again my start wasn’t bad. I was more aggressive into turn 1 this time having experienced it once already and held my position. unfortunately i wasn’t able to keep the pace of the riders Infront of me however I was faster than the ones behind so it was a race by myself for the last 10 laps. I kept my pace however staying in the low 1:59s and finishing yet again P12.
Turn 2 Madness

I want to thank everyone who made this possible. But mostly Juan and Andreua for running the championship and the setup too. You guys were so helpful with everything making me feel at home. Also thank you Marco for lending me the bike for the weekend. Thank you also to my dad and my mechanic Manu for coming this weekend. In 3 weeks we have Misano back on the Honda NSF again so until then ill keep training to give my 100% next race.
